An overview of who we are and what we do

Patty Dupre and Mike Scott have worked together since 1979, conducting apartment market and investment research on apartment investment and housing market issues. They publish a number of research reports each year discussing apartment investment and market issues. They analyze various aspects of the apartment market, including: investment, operating expenses, capital expenses and replacement reserves, rents, vacancies, concessions, new construction, absorption, renovation, financing, and more. Patty and Mike are also apartment investors.

Goal & mission

The goal of Dupre + Scott Apartment Advisors is to enhance the quality of advice available to clients and the public on rental housing market and investment issues through the company's research and publications. Patty and Mike believe the long-term health of the apartment market is important to apartment investors, lenders, developers, residents, and everyone involved in apartment investment, development, and management. They are convinced the market will work best when informed, timely, reliable, and unbiased market information is available.

Industry involvement

Patty has been a member of the Central Puget Sound Real Estate Research Committee since 1984 and was chair from 2002 to 2004; she served on the Washington Center for Real Estate Research board of trustees at Washington State University for six years, as well as vice-chair for two years; she is a past member, past national vice-president and past chapter chair of The Counselors of Real Estate, and served on its national board of directors for five years and was awarded its Counselor of Real Estate (CRE) designation in 1991 (held through 2001); she also served on various national committees for the Appraisal Institute and held the "MAI" designation for 16 years.

Mike was a director of the Central Puget Sound Economic Development District for nine years and past president; he is a past member, past national director and past chapter chair of The Counselors of Real Estate, awarded its Counselor of Real Estate (CRE) designation in 1991 (held through 2001); he was a director and past president of the Commercial Brokers Association; Mike was a member of an Urban Land Institute Advisory Services Panel to the City of Los Angeles; he was also a member of the Real Estate Advisory Board of the University of Washington, and an instructor in its Certificate Program in Commercial Real Estate for many years; and he was a member of Real Estate Technical Advisory Committee at North Seattle Community College, where he taught Real Estate Economics for ten years. Mike is also past president of the Puget Sound chapter of Lambda Alpha and received the organization's Member of the Year award for his "contributions to real estate land economics."

Education & community involvement

Patty and Mike have presented real estate courses and seminars for a variety of organizations, including: The Washington Multi-Family Housing Association, The Counselors of Real Estate, The Institute of Real Estate Management, The Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute, University of Washington program in Commercial Real Estate, Mortgage Bankers Association, the Bar Association, North Seattle Community College, Rental Housing Association of Puget Sound, Snohomish County Apartment Operators Association, Master Builders Association, and others.

They have also provided in-house presentations for a number of public and private organizations, including: HomeStreet Capital, City of Seattle Office of Housing, Cushman & Wakefield, King County Housing Authority Board of Trustees, Key Bank, Marcus & Millichap Investor Symposium, Seattle Northwest Securities, Cascade Partners, and others.

Patty and Mike have also shared their knowledge on apartment market trends and economics with community organizations, including the Downtown Bellevue Association, Rotary Club, City Club, and others; and participated in numerous panels to discuss community development for Tukwila, Bellevue, New Holly, High Point, among others.
