The Apartment Vacancy Report

Overview

Current and historical trends for rents, vacancies, rent projections, concessions, parking charges, and other information for various age and size groups of property, detailed for each of over 60 neighborhoods in King, Pierce, Snohomish, Kitsap, and Thurston counties. The report is based on our semiannual survey of 20-unit and larger apartment properties.

In addition to the printed report, subscribers can create their own custom online reports. These custom reports let users see general rent and vacancy trends by neighborhood over the past 25 years, or detailed rent, vacancy, concession, and other trends over the past 10 years based on your selection of neighborhood, property age ranges, and property size ranges. Users can also create custom rent comparables reports.

What you get if you subscribe today

Immediate online access to the current (October  2009) report, published September 25, 2009.  Your online access expires on January 31, 2011, during which time you will receive both the April and October 2010 reports.

Note: First time subscribers usually do not get a full year of online access. That's due to the timing of our publication dates. However, timely renewals do get a full year of online access.

$495.00 plus sales tax where applicable.

Printed report

The printed report includes five-year trend tables and ten-year trend graphs for each neighborhood.

Create your own customized online reports

In addition to the printed report, subscribers get immediate online access to a PDF version of the printed report as well as the ability to create customized online reports, directly from their "my account" page on our web site.

The sample on the right shows just a portion of the report subscribers can create online for any neighborhood or submarket. These reports include current rental market data as well as historic trends.

Online custom report #1 - rent & vacancy report

Select a neighborhood and any survey date (spring or fall) going back to the fall of 1997 and generate a 3 page report showing rents and vacancies by unit type and property age ranges for the survey date you selected. Click here to download a sample of Custom Report #1 (88kb PDF).

Online custom report #2 - rental market trends report

Select a neighborhood and whether you want trends for the last 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 years and generate a 3 page report showing rents, vacancies, percent of properties offering incentives, and the rent increases projected by managers from each survey. Online custom report #3 - rent & vacancy trends report

This is our most detailed report that gives users the greatest flexibility in customizing. Select a neighborhood or combination of neighborhoods or create your own market area. Then select the age range of properties you want to analyze as well as the size range (example: 150 units and larger or 20 to 40 units).

Your 7 page custom report shows trends from each survey since the spring of 1997 for rents, vacancies, incentives, and parking charges for each unit type (studios, one bedrooms, etc.)

Online custom report #4 - rent comparables report

Custom report 4Select a neighborhood, a unit type (studio, one bedroom, etc), and a property age range and generate a data table of properties that fit your criteria.

The properties are not identified, but the data table shows the following information for each individual property: current rent, unit size (net rentable square feet), turnover rent, who pays heat, who pays water/sewer, who pays garbage, charges for parking, rent incentives, and whether or not the property has decks, fireplaces, washers/dryers, elevator, and security.

Instant access
